Staff spotlight: Get to know our new Data Analyst, Anca

This month in the spotlight is Anca Nisirius, our new Data Analysts who joined us recently.

What brought you into the world of market research?

After graduating from Northumbria University I was interviewing for a few roles, but I really enjoyed the work culture and people at Join the Dots.

I got my first job there and I learned all I know so far regarding market research. I’ve learned about methodologies and various ways of user research that combined quite well with my own passions, so I stuck around!

If you were stuck on a desert island and you could bring three people to join you, dead or alive, real or fictitious, who would you pick?

I feel odd thinking none of these people are real!

My first choice would Corwin, Prince of Amber (from Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny), for his strategic approach, practicality and cunning. I feel like all those qualities would be valuable to survive on a desert island!

Nina Zenik from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo) – a kind, sweet, always optimistic personality that is not afraid to do anything to survive. She has the bonus of magic that manipulates the body on a molecular level.

And finally, Polgara, the Sorceress from the Belgariad and Malloreon series by David Eddings.

She is wise and well-versed sorceress taking care of the protagonist as well as being a fantastic healer who can talk to birds! Polgara feels like a good choice if we need to find a way to escape the island!

Describe your ideal weekend

My ideal weekend would be spent sunbathing on a secluded or quiet beach, with my fiancé and a cold iced coffee!

Favourite book, film and podcast?

It’s hard to pick a favourite book as I prefer series, but if I had to pick one it would be Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

It is fun, action-packed with high stakes heists and leaves you hanging just enough to immediately purchase the second book. Also, recommend the audible version as each character has their own voice which makes it really engaging to listen to.

When it comes to podcasts, my favourites are Dr. Death, Blood Ties, or Business Wars by Wondery.

Film-wise, my all-time favourite would be Wolf Children directed by Mamoru Hosoda. It’s a story about two children and their mother navigating their childhood. It’s quite touching and depicted beautifully.
