Each year we do Christmas a little differently at Omnisis. We are hugely appreciative of our clients. They are the reason that we’ve been running our small but mighty agency for over 20 years. But we also feel that countless boxes of chocolates and bottles of bubbly, though lovely, aren’t the only way to show appreciation for our clients’ support at Christmas.
The world has felt very heavy for the past couple of years and there are thousands of families who are struggling all year round, not just at Christmas. So instead of spending thousands of pounds on well-meaning, but less impactful client Christmas gifts, we like to donate money each year to a charity of our choosing instead.
This year, for the third year in a row, we’ve donated money to a fantastic, award-winning charity called The Bread and Butter Thing. We sent over a £2000 donation to help struggling neighbourhoods access nutritious, affordable food.
They work to ensure that food surpluses are taken into the heart of communities starved of money, food and resources through their mobile food club, which serves 48,000 members across the north of England and the Midlands.
Here’s what our Managing Director Brian had to say about the donation: “If we just dig a little deeper into the communities around Britain, unfortunately we see an eye-watering picture of bleakness. This situation has got worse over the past few years with emergency food parcel distribution being 70% higher than it was 5 years ago.
Independent organisations like The Bread & Butter Thing, along with community kitchens, social supermarkets, food pantries, warm banks, and soup kitchens are simply the only thing keeping increasing numbers of our population alive. At this time of year that a lot of us fall into the trap of excess consumerism, even a small donation like this can feel like a drop in the ocean of what is needed to put society back on the right path - but it's at least something we can do to help others have a better Christmas than they might otherwise have had.”
Vic Harper, Chief Executive at The Bread and Butter Thing said “The festive period is one of the toughest times of the year for many of our families. So we can’t thank Omnisis enough for their generous, and very timely donation for the third year running. This will go towards supporting our food clubs over Christmas as it's business as usual for us, we don’t close and will continue to work with our food partners to redistribute surplus food to all our 130 communities.”
